My Mrs bought a complete set of roller kits last year, having now finished my half size portable and done the winter maintenance on my lads STW SCC, actually made a start on the roller today.
One front roll built.

Rolls all made, cracked on with the tender.

Boiler now on lift table and we can start building the engine up.

I am planning to get it built up to a point where all the painting can be done in one hit, looking to make a little spray booth.

Painting really is not my strong point so we will see!

Finally got most of the painting done, final assembly has started.
We have made a few mods, silver soldered nipples on all the pipework, hardened all the motion pins and fitted hardened bushes into the rod ends. On the eccentric rods &  valve fork we have fitted a small key to prevent the pin turning in the rod end. Also made new reach rod ends from solid.
I will post photos three at a time as I cannot get it to load anymore.

The hardened bushes are about £ 3 each, they are 12mm OD x 8mm ID and come at 15mm long. I just cut them to length using a slitting disc.
The rod ends are opened up to 12mm, the weigh shaft reach rod ends have been replaced in order to get sufficient metal around the bush.

Sorry about the blurry image of the reach rod end. The pump rod now has a hardened bush and pin, with a grub screw in the fork to prevent the pin turning.

We have done all these mods on my sons SCC this winter (its three years old) so we decided to mod the roller as we went along.

Always found oiling the axle and second shaft a pain, when you get the cap off you risk dirt getting in the pot. When we had a full size roller I fitted  a missionary box with individual feeds.
So have done the same with the model.

Final assembly started today, apologies for poor photos but we are pleased with the colour / lining combination. Or more importantly the wife is!

It's looking amazing Bob. What shade of blue is that? the orange/red? lining really makes it pop beautifully.

Its Craftmaster Ex Mayor blue, I set up a dust free area in my work shop and brush painted it.

The lining was done using a Buegler lining tool, the red is Vermilion. Then everything is varnished.

Tried to keep it simple, the rolls are just black

Its not as perfect as spraying but we are pleased with the results.
