Hi Andy,
Yes, had the same issue. With some thinking about the issue I changed the bolt to a stud in pump body, actually cut a perfectly good bolt apart for that and instead of using the bolt I put a nut onto the stud as soon as I fitted the elbow. There was just enough space for that, a bit of thread retainer on the „stud“ would be a good idea, I think, just make sure the thread is just a tad longer than the flange of the elbow and the hight of the nut combined.
Unfortunately I did not take pictures when I did mine, was in a bit of a rush, it seems, sorry for that.

See I cut into the side so I could put the bolt in, slide the rest on and tighten.
Although my pump has seemed to stop work now after 3 good attempts.....

agh right.. what your do is turn the bolt inside out insert it in the hole and flip it back right side in!!
