Ronald G first steaming.
Couple of leaks to begin with but they sealed as he got warm.
Hope to have another go tomorrow, maybe drive around as well.

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
Lovely job, sounds very happy, nothing there that gives any cause for concern, bet you are really pleased with it.
Its funny how all the STW Agri's seem to have a certain sound I've found and they dont sound like other agri's (its not a bad sound by the way), and yours follows it perfectly. Can only imagine its all down to smoke box, chimney and exhaust giving it that distinctive hur huff hur huff hur huff sound they make.

Yes Mike, bit of non-event as far as he was concerned.

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
Ahhhh lovely , but is it me or does it sound like its running a bit one sided ? theres only one real chuff, I'm fairly sure mine chuff's on both strokes because its double acting cylinder. might need a tweak on the valve rod when its hot.

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
Do you mean it might not be opening on one port properly?

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
When the engine is fully up to running temp open the valve chest cover & move reverse lever into full forward & rotate flywheel in forward direction & check that the valve puck is opening the front & back ports by the same amount at the same 180 degree points on the rotation of flywheel e.g then you turn engine over & it just pass TDC or BDC you should just see the port by the same amount at both strokes,
if you set up the valve puck when the engine was cold then it will be out as boiler will expand in length when hot.
Hope this is of help I,m not that good at explaining things by writing them down
Forgot to say make sure the regulator is closed & wear gloves or its going to be a trip to the a&e dept.

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
Yep as Mick says, you can still hear it a little on the first video but it doesnt seem so pronounced which makes me think it was shot before everything was fully warmed up. I'm no expert in these things mind

Re: Ronald G my 4" Agri
DOH!!!!
Perhaps that's where the problem lies with the exhaust note.
Will change around and check the port openings anyway.
