Hi Simon
I got both plates made by J R Designs of Leicester 01162 784448, not cheap but well worth it.
Cheers Tim

Re: Making a start on my Burrell SCC......
It's been a while since I put any pictures on but I have made some progress. So here are some pictorial updates. By the way don't get on the phone to STW asking where's my seat as I've decided to make my own!

Wonderful finish Tim. The line work is similar to what I was planning but with black, green and red.

Re: Making a start on my Burrell SCC......
Hi Tim,
Your SCC is a award winner, thanks for the pictures!!
I think the finish you have achieved on the bright metal work ( eccentric rods, slide bars) is spot on. What was the method you used to achieve that finish and do you have any advise for other builders?
Congratulations on a fantastic build
Mark

Re: Making a start on my Burrell SCC......
Many thanks to both Marks for your compliments, should not be long before I can run her on air, have done nothing special on polishing the bright work etc.. just lots of elbow grease, very fine wet and dry, metal polish !!

Thanks Tim for then reply
Did you go over the bright metal work lightly first with a flap wheel?

Re: Making a start on my Burrell SCC......
Hi Mark, I didn't use a flap wheel on the eccentric rods instead I used a large flat file using varying grades of emery cloth wrapped round it drawing backwards and forwards all the time keeping it square with the rod until all machining marks had been removed, as for the guide bars I just gave them a light clean up as I didn't want to remove too much material on those, hope this answers you question.

Re: Making a start on my Burrell SCC......
Looking great! Did you have any issues fitting your gear change bracket? With mine flush up against the hornplates nothing appears to line up, the axle won't fit through the bracket and yokes. In order to get everything lined up I need to add in a washer between the bracket and the hornplate on the rear bolt, even then it is still very tight.
