Engineering/ manufacturing request
As I am now into my second season of steaming and our engines take on our own personal touches I have always had a desire to have a pair of miniature brass tax disc holders for the tax and NTET discs. Whilst I am able to scan and reduce the discs easily the making of the holder is well beyond my skills.
Would anyone be able to make a holder something similar to this
The picture is a bit small but this is the link to the page..

I have in mind a ring diameter of about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 with a flat plate to drill and mount in a suitable location. Would anyone be able to come up with something like this?

I am also looking for a scale tax disc holder so that would be 2 orders. I know Colin Alexander had some on his engine - just need his contact details to find out how he made them.

Re: Engineering/ Manufacturing request
The plate could be water or laser cut with no problem, model engineers laser is reasonably priced. The bezels could be turned without to much trouble depending on how good you would want the curves to come out. CNC would make light work of them but they could be done on any centre lathe. The glass is the fun bit but I'm sure ebay could provide the answer. Could be a fun little project later this year but I have to get my garden paved first, if you are still looking for someone in a couple of months I might have a go.

Re: Engineering/ manufacturing request
I love that sort of reply!! Just like me pulling up to a house and saying " just need to hop up on the chimney to sort that" with the customer looking on in horror. I have no idea where to find "engineers laser" nor a company that would cut it for me, the last enquiry I made wanted at least 100 units to do a small project which was way beyond my budget. Then the " oh its a simple turning job " with no lathe, no material, no experience etc etc. Thats why i was asking for someone to volunteer.....
Hartshaulage, Whats the score with tax discs then?? didnt know about that???

From the 1st October 2014 tax disc will ceased to be issued, it will be electronically monitored, by the DVLA.

Re: Engineering/ manufacturing request
I suggest you re-read my post, as I said I am very busy at the moment but if you have no luck getting anyone else to I will have a go later on in the year. Engineers laser is a small company that do one off's for modellers. They are pretty cheap and will even produce proper drawings from a sketch. If you get in contact in a couple of months I will price up what a unit would cost. I had a thought on the glass as well, lynn could cut a disc from clear acitate. And yes I do have a lathe and mill.

I'm a turner by trade, depending on what curves you want I can do them, only manual available at the present moment, for anything less than 12" diameter!
