Re: gear cluster uj hub
Check the spacer on the other side as it sounds like your shaft is too far over to the left.

Lynn,
The spacer and gear are not installed the other end, contacted Steve he says to check if the shoulders of the square
all line up , if they dont thats why the hub is being pulled out of true, it may need a bit of machining to square it up
Thanks for your reply though

Re: gear cluster uj hub
Hi Kev,
I seem to remember doing a fair amount of careful filing & fettling that square on the shaft & the hole it goes into!! having got it working, I found it would only work if assembled in one position, so I dot punched to ensure I always get it in the same place on reassembly!
Regards,
Tony

Re: gear cluster uj hub
Also remember if its just tight then it will soon loosen up under running. My whole engine was so stiff I couldnt push it at first as Andys is now but mine now just rolls with no trouble at all. I also remember the shaft only being happy in one orientation.
Re: gear cluster uj hub
Hi all,
The reason my 2nd shaft binding after tightening was the shoulders of the square
were not in line , it could have been carefully filed but I set it up on my milling machine
and machined the shoulders true, all spins nicely now , so if anyone has a stiff gear cluster
check your shoulders are all in line .
