Water level indicators
I was about to fit the top of my tender water tank then realised that I had forgotten about a water level indicator. I have seen some sort of dipstick style ones with a float on the bottom, is that the most common way? Where is it usually fitted? Is anyone else putting on in or are you just going to rely on the try-cocks?

Re: Water level indicators
I put a tube at the back of the man stand next to the brake wheel.
Fitted a float on a PVC rod. So it I catch it it only goes bing not snap
Keeps it out the way and easy to see from my driving position.

Re: Water level indicators
I took out the top and bottom try cocks and fitted a sight glass, works very well but I opted for both top and bottom fitting closed and really should have had a drain tap in the lower one to release bubbles.
Re: Water level indicators
I have fitted one in line with the water pump pipes on the left side of the man stand. The brass fittings I used were a male and female car brake pipe union. This created a fitting that gripped the tender top and left a hole about 30 mm long by 5mm for a lightweight rod to pass through then I used a float on the bottom of the rod still need to sort out something to go on the top.
