Hi All,

As we have the option of adding a siren to the DCC, where can I get one from? I have scanned the Web, but with no success!

Thanks in advance,

Brian

I think Heritage Steam do a 6" siren now not see or heard it so can't judge the quality. Also this chap is / was making them at 4".

I know there is somewhere else ive seen them at 4" but I'll have to go hunting the web.

R A Barker do them,

see tonys post in owners photos section.

He is trying to get a large enough order for barkers to make a new batch.

I knew I had been them, bottom of page 34! £189.00. Not sure if they make a decent noise but worth a call to them.

Mine is a Barkers siren and it was great to hear it again after 12 months silence!!! They make a hell of a whoop too! On 180 psi if you're blowing off they will fire up instantly. My favourite toy on the engine. My wife on the other hand cant stand them and last Friday when she came back from her fathers across the road ahe knew we had fired it up cos she heard it and passed a comment that she was dismayed to see it re-instated Evil or Very Mad No pleasing some people Very Happy

Where can I get a good quality siren? Empty Baker Siren fitted on RL

Post  sonick45 Fri 06 Jul 2012, 11:22 pm

just thought those interested in getting the 4" siren from Rob Barker might wish to see one on the block.

Also in place is my 3 chime. It's well over size but i've tested is with the same bore inlet and at 100psi it sounds good.
God knows what it will sound like at 175 !!!

The picture does make it look massive but it doesn't look too crazy when you step back.

Kinda looks like the road locos that have the big chimes taken from ships fitted to them..
i've seen this size on 4" Macs and they look fine.

The siren works wonderfully. very smooth with no sticking drums inside.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for posting the picture, I noticed you have a male/female adapter to connect the siren to the cylinder block, was this provided by Barkers, or did you have to buy it? If so, what type of thread/size is it?

Cheers,

1/4 inch male/male fitting. Tapered bsp.
Get mine from a fastener specialist search te web for them.

Barkers do not supply fittings.

If the siren is like mine then it should be threaded 1/4 BSP. This then needs a simple bush 1/4 BSP to 1/4 BSP which is readily available from any plumbers supply. 1/4 BSP takes the 10mm copper pipe which is quite popular these days. It will probably come with two olives and nuts but just discard those. If you get really stuk trying to locate let me know and I'll get one and send it you.
