Water fittings
Hi All
Has anyone got their Kit26 yet?
Pony express can be a bit slow at times this far north. Looking forward to a box of goodies and also the surprise of what is meant by "water fittings" It could be just a couple of plumbing fittings, an elbow or two and a length of copper pipe.

Re: Water fittings
mostly the boiler water level gauge, pressure gauge and fittings, plus the pipe down to the belly tank, so you were quite close this your kit list Lynn

Re: Water fittings
Yep I can confirm that initial response was "blimey thats just a large box with three pipes in!!! " before I discovered the other small box at the bottom full of bits to put together. Lots of intricate looking goodies to spend a few hours on.
One question though, the glass for the gauge protection, the sides are just a fraction of an inch to wide to go between the rods. Would it be feasable to "sand them" slightly to get them to fit. I was thinking of using 400 - 800 grit wet and dry and just trying to gently reduce them??

OK, just been playing with a few sets and it would seem some of the class has been "cut" with a slight angle on the edges. apparently its highly unlikely that you will file the glass. the solution that seems to work best is to lightly file the brass protector rods

Re: Water fittings
No pictures due to two reasons... needing to work to sustain life ( several lives actually ) and still picking myself up from the floor after finding the parts list very amusing....... two or three of the names in particular. Wife asked if any of them were a "cock ring" but I had to explain that was a different parcel!!!!

Part Names
Hi Kev
So what did you find amusing? Its harder than you think trying to name some of these items. If you didn't have a smutty mind then they wouldn't be amusing. Perhaps you (or your wife) were disappointed about what the cock seal turned out to be?
Regards
Steve
p.s. I like your engine. Well done

Re: Water fittings
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the compliment. Judging by Deans name for his engine perhaps you should let him have the cock seal, it might keep him out of trouble!!!
Looking forward to Friday for another kit!!! Lots to do over the break...
Cheers Kev.

Pony Express arrived!
Kit 26 Water fittings arrived late last night. Hope to get the polishing kit out tonight and buff up some copper and brass before fitting. Most of the fittings are beyond excellent quality and finish so little work is needed. Really only work needed is the copper to remove the brazing residue and heat tinting.
Yes. I could not do any yesterday once the kit arrived as I was doing some pro-quality printing for a client.

Problem
Found a problem. The 2 lock nuts for the water guage are missing from the kit and the parts list does not list them either.
