Changing my colour scheme !!
I have just received my Ex Mayor blue, the colour looks just what I wanted, quite a bit darker than the Oxford blue that I painted the front wheels. I guess that I am going to have to use my Oxford blue as a build up paint in order too keep the shades the same.
I will post a pic of the wheels in their new Ex Mayor livery when they are completed.
Please bring on some warm weather this weekend..

The ex-mayor blue should be used with a blue primer which is quite a bit lighter so you may be ok. I had the same worry with the Ex-Mayor yellow and with the yellow primer you can't see the difference between my front and rear wheels.
I'll second it for warm weather over the weekend
Re: Changing my colour scheme !!
I have got the blue undercoat and have used that as per normal, but had already top coated the wheels with oxford topcoat.
I spoke to Adam at Craftmasreer and he reccomended that I carry on using the primer, blue undercoat, Oxford topcoat, then finish with the Ex Mayor blue, that way the colour should be the same on all parts, I had just as well use up my 2.5 ltrs of Oxford anyway !
I am looking forward to seeing the end result, the colour in the tin looks really great !!

I agree It's a lovely colour, took several months to get but worth every minute of the wait. Craftmaster did a great job.

Re: Changing my colour scheme !!
not sure whats happening with your pics. as long as you take the photobucket "IMG" codes (the bottom one of the four) and paste them straight in to your post they should work.
don't use the image button on the edit screen, it's not needed.
leaving a blank line between image codes will leave a nice space between pics. you should be able to post quite a few pics per post. not actually tried to work out what the limit is yet.

Re: Changing my colour scheme !!
I think that the showman would be a retirement project, I want to get the 4" tractor out of the way first !!!
I have been looking for this sort of dark blue for ages, I cant wait to get the tender and cleading painted !!!
I think I will be wishing the time away until the next Kit........

That's really coming along! I like the finish to the smokebox and chimney - I'd take a guess it was rustoleum Stove paint in satin? If it's not then I'm going to blame it on your camera lens deceiving me

Re: Changing my colour scheme !!
Hi Dan,
Thanks mate, it was actually Plasticoat bar-B-que paint (as reccomended to me by by Steve Trail) it's lovely and easy to apply, and when cured gives a great satin finish......
Its available at B & Q stores at about £6.50 per tin.

Hi Frostie
Yes I also use the Plastikot BBQ satin black on my SRL. As you say gives a nice even satin black. Did test the paint under propane/oxy torch as slight hiccup with the perch bracket as it had an inclusion under the surface and ceased up. Had to use heat and large hammers to remove it. Paint shrugged off the direct torch. Only effect was a slight copper tone at the sharp corners.
