tender drain plug
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know the thread size used for the drain plug in the tender?
After I sealed the tank I foolishly left the sealant in the thread and now I need to run a tap through it
but im not sure of the thread.
Thanks
Kev

Re: tender drain plug
mmm, strange
we are talking about the one in the very bottom of the tender ???
i checked the drawing for this and it said M12. knowing that you had all said M10 i checked on the control model and yes, it was M12 ???
maybe Steve can help.
at the end of the day, if you run an M10 through an M12, your not going to do any harm. if it was the other way round you could have a problem

Re: tender drain plug
when you posted M12 i went down the shed and took the bolt out and checked with a caliper. As yesterday i just looked. as i use bolts of this size everyday at work you get used to the sizes. But like i said it's M10 so thats why i posted the other comment.

Re: tender drain plug
This is the most active thread for a while. Never thought I would be in a discussion (and maintain interest) on the size of a bolt and its pitch.
This is great!
All the best,
Brian M

Re: tender drain plug
This forum is going down the drain; I was reading this thread and I thought I was going nuts. sorry for the reply but I hope this reply is pitched at the right level. I can't think of any other comments to add, I am interested in the end result as I too thought it was a M10 with a standard pitch as I need to rethread the tender plug.
Let me be the first to wish you all a merry Christmas as I went shopping yesterday and I thought it was December 20th (The tree at Tesco's looked like it has been up for 6 months)

Re: tender drain plug
Well the forum is in engineering parlance.
Thread of thought!
Pitch the idea!
Plumb for the answer!
Cock it up!
Drill to the point.
Better stop now other wise I may get a dead blow!
