QUESTION FOR STEVE Empty QUESTION FOR STEVE

Post  BUNGLE Sat 25 Oct 2008, 6:35 pm

HI STEVE, CAN YOU TELL US WHAT THE THREE HOLES (ABOUT 2.5mm, BY EYE) ARE FOR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR SPEC. PLATE PLEASE ?
GETTING SLIGHTLY WORRIED THAT IF WE HAVE TO FIT SOMETHING IN THEM, THEY ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO ACCESS.
READ JULIA'S BOOK FOR THE 4", CAN SEE THEM IN HER PIC'S, BUT CAN'T THEM USED ANYWHERE.

REGARDS
BRUCE

P.S. SITES GONE QUIET, NOT EVEN HAD A PRODUCTION UPDATE SO FAR THIS MONTH Wink

Sorry but I am going to answer Steve's question.

These three holes are unused and are a hang over from the original design of the 4" Burrell. Looking at my LSM Burrell drawings the rear spectacle plate was attached to the boiler. No such fixing was used on the MW 4".

Hi Bruce,

Julias quite right. The full size engines had a spectacle plate strengthening bracket to the boiler. Our thicker than scale plate makes this unnecessary, plus it would be quite difficult to achieve given all the variations. Just put 3 dummy hex screws in.

No production update currently as nothing has changed since the last post. Still working on exactly the same bits and the flywheels are still outstanding so nothing further to report at the minute. As soon as anything changes or positive despatch dates can be given an update will be added. We have added photo's of the 4" Burrell boiler plate work in the relevant section to keep the 4" customers informed of progress on their engines and recently despatched a kit to Foden customers.

Regards

Dean & Steve

Steve/Dean,

In your last production update (7th Oct) you stated the flywheels would be with you within 10 days, did this happen as reading your previous post it looks like they did not arrive??

Hi,

You are correct, the flywheels did not arrive as expected. We explained to our supplier that the information he was giving us on their delivery was crucial as once he'd commited to us we would be telling our customers when they could expect their parts. He assured us they would be in on the quoted date and guess what.........................................they didn't show. Evil or Very Mad We are now expecting delivery on Friday, assuming they arrive i will add a photo to the forum prior to manufacture. The rest of the kit apart from the con rod is almost finished with the con rod on it's second operation of five.

All the best

Dean
