Re: The New Batch
well im sure we can delay things for you if your not going to be there
i do try not to promise things i can't deliver so im not going to say it will be ready early October unless i think we can make that deadline, but you never know.
most of the first kit is already done but we are short on a few items and this means waiting for material to be delivered etc. sadly this puts us in the hands of a supplier and although most material can be delivered within a week, sods law says the one thing we need will be out of stock
i will keep things updated as they go on and we should have a better idea in a week or so

Re: The New Batch
Dean,
My post was tongue in cheek mate, I know that you guys are going flat out to keep all of us happy, I cant fault the service that I have had from STW during my 2" build. Spares, and parts that I buggered up were posted the next day, and advice was always given when asked for ..
I am sure that a lot of other guys have the same story.
A big THANK YOU to all at STW.

Re: The New Batch
dean ??? i think i may be insulted by that
my post was meant to be light hearted as well. we like to keep things easy going on the forum and simply try to be honest about how production is going.
we all work flat out at STW but the sad truth is that one simple little mistake or forgotten part order can often have a big effect on the dispatch of a kit. with so few people on staff we all have more than one area to keep an eye on and sometimes we do take our eyes off the ball, but we are constantly tweaking things and trying to improve.
on a good note we did have a new labour saving device arrive today... a fully automatic saw to cut all the material. now we can just set it off and leave it to get on with it. sounds quite simple but will free up a lot of time for us

Re: The New Batch
Well done Richard. I haven't even finished building the workshop yet! Most of the plasterboard on, a double socket in place, replacement external door in primer, lighting on floor.... general chaos ensues.
What compressor did you plumb for?

THE NEW BATCH
Hi everybody.
I'm Steve and am also looking forward to my first delivery. My workshop is ready and waiting for the new arrival. It's fully insulated and heated so there's nothing to stop me once it arrives! This is my first attempt at building a steam traction engine so I'm a complete muppet!

Welcome Steve!
That makes two Muppets so far then
My workshop is coming on. Waiting for gloss on the new external door to cure before I put it out in this colder weather. Need to build the bench and buy a heater. Still have no lighting But the 'secret' false wall so I can trundle the engine out at the end of the build is almost finished

Here's to another successful run of kits! Does this mean we will be expecting a load of avatars with a picture of our first wheel built? (No offence to those who do have such avatars... I'm guessing it's a bit like a rite of passage!)

Delivered!
Kit number 1 is now sitting in the kitchen Paid for and checked for contents. The heartbreaking thing is - I have to go into work now so can't look at it in any detail
