Do NOT ever buy a Freelander2.

In the last year (3rd Year) and less than 30k miles on the clock.

Replaced

Rear brakes £250
Handbrake shoes and cams £150
Rear Differential £1700

and now to top it off.

Defective Clutch. Requiring pressure plate, thrust bearings, master and slave cylinders and Flywheel. Best price so far £850.

That's 4x4's for you - alternator went on my Audi Allroad last week £600! - £304 alternator and £300 labour to take the front of the car off to replace.

Suspension compressor went last year - 10p piston ring which you are not allowed to buy from the manufacturer here in Kent means a new pump only available from Audi dealers £850 - fitting took one hour !!!!

You pers yer money blah blah blah...........................

Our 1995 Discovery is still going strong. There again, I do all the maintenance on it.

Yes I did let go of my 96 Disco which I was able to maintain myself. But at 180k and needing a new sub body it was getting tired.
