Showmans kit 16

the next showmans kit (after you get your boiler and accessories) will be the ash-pan and boiler cladding.

most of this will be made from laser cuts, and they are now on order. we still have a few bits to machine, starting with the grate bars.

by the time we had finished cutting the bar, this box was full !!!



and machined in batches of 14 (as its 14 bars per kit)...

With the next kit being the ashpan and Cleading, will this be as per Steve's Revised Schedule
towards the end of April or before ?

its really hard to tell at the moment Colin. we are doing everything we can on this at the moment although the laser cut parts have not arrived yet (due early next week).

but we do have the factory move hanging over us and to do this we have to stop production for a while. if we get the kit done before the move happens it could be early April but if the move happens before it will be later.

all i can do is keep you updated as and when i hear things. the move has had an effect on production lately but with it not actually being official until things are signed its been hard to give out too much information.

As per Craigs' mail, ,ow you've completed on the New Factory, can we get an update of when the next few kits are likely to be sent out please ?

It's looking unlikely I can make the 11/12th June - it's my daughters birthday and I've already been given notice by the Oracle I need to be around to help!

not actually completed yet !!! laser cuts parts for the next kit will be in Monday or Tuesday. we will be concentrating 100% on getting this done before the move. i believe the kit after that will be a cylinder block deposit, i may be wrong

Looking at the breakdown of kits it seems that there isn't a cylinder block deposit.

The only deposit was on the boiler.

Kit 11 is down as the cylinder casting, kit 12 is the machining and delivery of the block and kit 13 is the cylinder accessories. The next kit is likely to be the ash pan followed by payment for the cylinder casting at the end of April and then delivery of the first batch of blocks in May. As far as I'm aware this has always been the case since we released it and it's what's on the flyer. Let me know if your paperwork says differently.

Funny thing is in old age you tend to get impatent and frustrated very quick. So get your finger out and get some parts machined

right, a long overdue update on this kit...

to make sure the laser cut parts for the cladding were correct we ordered two "pre-production" sets that were fitted to the control model straight away...



after some very minor adjustments the batch was ordered and arrived today...



and we have been busy over the last couple of weeks getting the ash-pans done...



complete with the grates...



these are all done now...



and the damper hinges...



and rods...



boiler bands...



and finished manhole clamps...



we have a few things left to do and all the cladding to roll.

hopefully we should have this done late next week

im really not sure. with the laser cut parts turning up today we have not got much time left, but we will do everything we can. but then it has to be packed and the dispatch has to be arranged.

i'll have a quick chat with dean and Steve in the morning to try and work out when it will go and i'll let you know.

if not it will be very soon after

Do you know when we will get the front belly tank bracket to attached to the boiler ? I assume once the cleading is on it won't be easy to put this bracket on ?

we still haven't had the bracket back from the laser cutters. we had to prioritise on the cladding so we could get it here on time.

to be honest, i wouldn't fit the cladding till you had the cylinder block anyway
