hello everyone,i am new to this hobby,i bought a 3 1/2 inch scale marshall that came from gratton model engineers in derby,the gentleman that bought it in kits passed away many years ago and the boiler paperwork is long gone,i purchased it thinking i will need to get a new boiler made,i have been looking for a stamped number or a makers stamp but cant find anything,does anyone know where this numbers might be and who made the boilers for gratton model engineers,one last question ,the boiler was cladd with cork,i expected to find strips of wood,is cork ok to use,thanks

I can not help with the origin of the boiler but the cork insulation is quite common in model engineering boilers.

You need to talk to a boiler inspector at a model engineering club. They will hopefully agree to carry out a shell test at twice working pressure and issue a unique boiler number and certificate. The cork is ok.
