2 inch burrell gear change mechanism

the next part for the 2 inch burrel is the gear change mechanism...



some of the castings arrived with the governor bodies...



we have started with the main bracket so everything else can be checked for a good fit...




this is going to be another complicated kit

good looking carstings

castings are looking great guys...but what about the diff and gears,they do seem to be way off schedule.

Hi Tony,

The diff and gear kit is just about ready. We have one drilling operation to do and then it can be despatched, so you'll be getting two kits this month.

well we have made progress with this kit, in fact it's all but finished now. i think we are just waiting for the handles to be silver soldered on the main lever.

a few more pics for you...

this is the main bracket fitted to the control model, with the two "arm" castings in place



these arm castings were finished on the 4th axis CNC. by mounting them in a fixture in the chuck we could spin them the full 360 degrees and drill and tap all the holes in one go



and another small part , the bronze bush for the main lever...



and just to prove that the diff is coming on, a photo for you, we had to do a few unexpected operations to the castings when they arrived in the factory. i believe the last part, the cutting of the key-ways, is under way. don't forget, we have to do everything 100 times on the 2 inch, so it all takes time ...

Nice looking job there Miller.. I'm going to assume that it was you who were buggering about with the gear change parts when Hugh and I were sodding about around the 2" the other day. Don't need to panic about getting the kits you're mentioning ready just yet as I've a fair way to go yet so everyone can wait for ME!!!!
