It's been a while since Kit one arrived and there have been a few since so thought it was about time to post some images of the progress so far so here goes.

That's the progress so far hopefully sort the rear hubs and trims out this weekend so we can drop it onto the wheels.
Cheers

Re: "Chuttie" - 4.5" Foden Build Progress
We have now completed all the kits delivered to date so have uploaded some more images, the only bits not fitted are the rear wheel centres as these are going to match the body colour and we have not brought the paint yet, also the rear inside tyres are missing valve caps as these hit the spring boxes when fitted so will be taking the wheels back off later to fit shorter valves to the inside rims on the rear.
Thanks for looking
Cheers

Looks lovely in the red, what method did you use for smoothing down the steering wheel and getting rid of excess solder?

Hi Hecter,
We did not do anything I just chucked it in the blasting cabinet as the brazing is soft in cleaned up pretty well without much effort.
Cheers

Re: "Chuttie" - 4.5" Foden Build Progress
Hi,
We have completed the smoke box and chimney, but have not started on the cylinder and valve gear yet as my father has been ill since October, he is getting better now but we have just gutted the kitchen and dinning room so wont get a chance to look at the steam engine for a bit. I have posted some update photo's for the smoke box below we have also finished and fitted the water tank but the weather has not been conducive with rolling it outside for a photo.
Cheers

Chuttie 4.5 in Foden Build
Hello Nick and Ken- it seems to be coming along nicely. I took delivery of 11 kits on 14th Jan and am busy working on chassis etc.
I liked the finish of the smoke box and chimney- can you tell me what paint you used. It looks a little like the heat resistant paint sold for wood burner stoves.
Regards
Old Down Trevor

Re: "Chuttie" - 4.5" Foden Build Progress
Well with the Christmas break we made a lot of progress and are actually up to date with the kits we have which has not been the case for a while, so a few photo's to document the progress.
After some fettling and modification we have a fire door that stays open, reduced the spacer bushes, changed the top bolt to M4 and tapped the baffle plate and then ground the bolt flush and hey presto the door actually locks open.
Cheers

Hi Guys
Great pictures, looks good, brings back memories of just a couple of years ago with my build. I think the gear and chain guards look especially good, I did mine black but your choice looks better. The rear wheels look similar - see below
All the beat with the build and keep the pics coming

Re: "Chuttie" - 4.5" Foden Build Progress
The rear wheels do look similar we are currently debating painting the wheel rim yellow like yours or painting it red then running a yellow stripe inside of the holes on the cover plates to look similar to the fly wheel. The centre hubs on ours are the colour that we intend to use on the body panels so it should be vivid

Hi Nick & Ken
Your Foden i looking amazing, a yellow lorry will make a change from the normal colour scheme's out there, Shouldn't imagine it will be long until you can run the engine on air
Keep up the good work

As it was sunny and we have now lined the wheels I thought I would snap another couple of photos outside to show the whole engine so far with the pinstripes, as you can never have too many photos in my opinion
Just need another kit now as it is strange not having anything to do at the moment.
Cheers

Hi Nick and Ken.
I must say have nice your engines looking it gives me something to look forward too.
Must be getting a bit heavy now I.e. Pushing it around (keeps you fit I would imagine).
Thanks for the pictures.
