Weight of engine
Anybody weighed their engine yet?
Would be very interesting to know the final weight of an engine.

Re: Weight of engine
Hi Kev,
Weight of engine up to kit 28 was 570Kg dry at the local weighbridge, this didnt include the flywheel kit and the roof kit. Allowing for guessitmation of the combined final total probably about 625Kg.
Hope this helps.

Re: Weight of engine
Thanks Kev,
Thats a great help,
Does that include boiler, tender and belly tank full of water?
So its coming a far bit under the 750kg estimate in the specs.
Good to know weights for transporting the engine.
Did you find the email address for Amberley please?
Thanks

Re: Weight of engine
That was constructed, on its wheels, all kits except those mentioned fitted, "dry" means no water at all. This is for the Road Loco as thats what I have built, couldn't say about the Showmans, need a Showmans builder to get to the weighbridge. I will take the complete engine with water in at some point in the future and get a final weight.

Push test
Using the old reliable 'push test' at Dorset last year I reckon the Showmans recquires 49% more grunt to push than the 4" Agricultural!

Frederick on the scales
Took Frederick to a public weighbridge today.
She weighed in at 740 Kg with all the bits (including roof timber, supports, olivers and back seat) - excluding the dynamo mechanisms and the exciter dynamo castings.
The boiler and belly tanks were dry and there was no coal in the bunker. So the all up weight with the engine in my current box trailer is 1340 Kg (it's rated for 1400).
