2" burrell KIT 10 rear axle

hi all, i have been busy since getting my boiler. i have put the rear axle together but have a bit of play in the bearings, between the axle and the bearing.
Has anyone else got the same problem, how much play is acceptable? i know with the weight of the finished engine should help but i think it could be a tighter fit!
Do i need some new oilite bearings? can steve or dean tell me the size of the rear axle so i can check?
