Been working on the weighshaft again today, namely shimming out the slide bar. HP side almost fine out of the box just a very slight adjustment needed otherwise great. LP not so quick and whilst trying shim upon shim and undoing and doing up the top slide the thread has stripped from the bolthole on the back of the cylinder (the one above the gland). Will call in tomorrow to ask Steve but the only thing I can think of is I will have to re thread it as M8. Any one else have any suggestions?? bearing in mind this needs to quite tight to keep the slide bar in situ. Had a look with a torch and most of the thread has gone even down at the bottom. By the way didnt go too mad trying to do this up i.e. I was not going for E.F.T on the bolt.

Hi

I have the same problem and I have helicoiled the HP and will be doing the LP tomorrow. My HP stripped on the first very gentle tighten. LP is very loose on the bolt so will strip soon. I had to file the side of the top slide slot to allow the slide to align up. STW are aware of the issue with the top 2 holes.

Is a helicoil a way of replacing the M6 thread with the same? If so how does it work? Do you tap it larger and the helicoil reduces it? I presume they can be bought, if so where?

Didnt do anything straight away as I thought there might be an answer and didnt really want two different sized bolts if I could avoid it, plus the M8 wont go through the slide bar either...

Put helicoil into google and now I understand.. Pity I have to buy 25 of them when I only need to sort out one thread Sad What really makes me laugh is that Screw FIX ( notice the name there ) Dont actually stock something that fixes screws Shocked How ironic is that??? Does trades descriptions cover company names..... Laughing Still at least good old Ebay can get one to me. What would the world do without Ebay... probably be a lot happier and we'd all have more money Laughing
