Attended this meeting today abut 20 miniatures plus the railway was running various locomotives and rolling stock. Met Julia Old with Little Beastie she went on the seven mile road run. Very informal and pleasant afternoon will be attending once I get my engine completed.

Unfortunately I was only there on Saturday I would have loved to see your road loco to compare with how mine is gong together . I took along my 12" copy of a 1965 AC Cobra which seemed to attract wuite a bit of interest .

Re: Whissendine minature steam rally
Hi I arrived just as the road run was leaving the field so had a very brief chat with Julia and had left the event before you all came back. Hence how I missed you.

I like the engine in the youtube clip at 5:44 with the umbrella attached to the driving seat. It may be rain on the field but he wont get wet.

15.1 miles if you don't mind. Went on solo from Stapleford to Wymondham windmill for tea and cakes.

Julia,
I bow to your achievement, I walked the 400 yards to the Whissendene windmill and was shown around by the Windy Miller I just wish I had taken my camera because he really was the typical white faced white hair and white bearded gent dressed in a beige smock coat.

How long did that take you on an agricultural engine with lower top speed than the road loco?? What sort of gradients were involved and how did you go on for water?
Cheers

My GPS said average speed moving 3.6mph. Overall we were out 7 hours, with three stops at which I took on water and refreshments. My engine is well sorted and I drive for economy. 99% of the time we were fully notched up in top gear. This makes a tremendous difference to water consumption. I carry a total of fifteen gallons sufficient for over 10 miles. The total load was 3 adults and 2 kids which makes the hills more rewarding. I don't know the gradients but reasonably steep. There were several long slogs but Little Beastie took them without difficulty.
If anyone wants a well sorted engine that has never been towed Little Beastie will be For Sale soon.
