Perch Bracket
Hi,
Another lame question. I'm about to paint my perch bracket, is it okay to paint the inside machined portion of the casting (the two 7 hole curvy parts that attach directly against the boiler excluding the collar mating face). Would I be correct in assuming that the machined face is just to profile the casting to fit the curve of the boiler, it is not a sealing face for anything in the future?
Regards
Stewart

Re: Perch Bracket
Hi
Yes you can paint to protect the inner face of the perch bracket. Just do not put too thick on as it will "melt" during steaming. Please also remember the paint on the smokebox and chimney will be classed as "consumable". If you don't burn the paint off a couple times a season. You are just not trying hard enough.
