Thinking of buying a welder

Hi all, Happy New Year to you all.
I'm thinking about buying a welder, any advise for anyone would be appreciated.
I'm thinking about a mig welder. I have never welded before.
I am currently building a 2" Burrell and hoping to build a SCC one next
I'm thinking being able to weld would be a good advantage to be able to do.
Any advise would be a help. I'm not wanting to spend too much.

Do you know how to weld? If not, I advise you to do a welding course or as a minimum, get someone to teach you. You will hear people say that gasless MIG welders are useless, they are not, its just that people do not learn how to use them properly. I am using one to weld in new panels to a 66 year old car, which was "Made in England". It used to be a 4-5 year apprenticeship to become a welder. There again, Billy Connely was one, bless him.
