vulcanization

Hi Dean/Steve,

It was mentioned to me by another STW customer that the new wheels you supply are already vulcanised.

Can you confirm this rumour?

I would be interested anyway as the shear weight of the RL will surely cause them to strip quite quickly.

We intend to supply as standard vulanised tyres on the rear wheels. Fronts are an optional extra.

Like many of your other customers I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kit 1. The option of having the front tyres vulcanised seems like a great idea - please can you investigate the cost of this and post here soon - will we need to have decided / paid before the kit is despatched or can the tyres be fitted at a later stage?

Hi All,

A bit of news on the Vulcanising of the Front Wheels.

After a meeting with the vulcanising company yesterday we are able to offer the front wheels supplied with vulcanised tyres at a cost of £146.63 each. Due to the quantity we are likely to be ordering this is a reduction of 25% on the normal price of £195.50 each.

With the first kit due out soon we will need to know which customers would like to take up the option of vulcanised front wheels as a matter of urgency. I shall be writing to all the Road Loco and Showman's customers tomorrow giving them the option of staying with the standard stuck on front tyres or upgrading. Please let us know as soon as possible, one way or the other, which option you would prefer.

Hi Nick,

This can be done at a later date, no worries, but as you correctly state the wheel would then require repainting.

Steve's experience is that if done properly sticking the rubber on should be fine. It does seem most of our customers would appear to be going for the vulcanised option.

I can see why most have opted for the vulcanised tyres. After all it's probably money well spent in the long run especially with the added front weight on the showmans. I do however side with Steve in the respect that if the tyre is correctly treated and bonded properly with isoflex then you should have no problems. Most problems I have come accross regarding tyres coming unglued have been rears not fronts and as I am wrongly mistaken the rears on the ddc come vulcanised as standard. I'll try the isoflex and spend the £300 I've saved on the wife to keep here sweet
