final drive gear bearing
Hi all,
regarding the large bearing for the final drive gear, its seems to me it should be loctited
to the gear casting so it only rotates on the axle, the instructions make no mention
of loctite, just wondered what others have done.
noticed with the wheel off there is a lot of free play wobble in the final gear ,grabbed with both hands I can rock it a good 4mm,is this the norm for everyone ,the engine hasnt moved yet and that kind of play
is there already which is a bit worrying for the long term .
any thoughts welcome
thanks

Bush
The bush should be locktited to the gear so the axle rotates within it. No bush works on both surfaces! The instructions are silent on this point.

Thanks Steve,
I thought that is the way to go ,I wonder how many have followed the instructions
and left out the loctite.

Re: final drive gear bearing
Big mistake if you don't. It needs to be well fixed otherwise the bush will wear quickly. Also worth checking out how sweet the pinions run on the bevel. If they are clunky, have a look at my thread or Steve's.
