FODEN SWB Chassis Empty FODEN SWB Chassis

Hello- just got most of bits for first 11 kits of SWB. Starting to unpack and try to understand what I have let myself in for!!

Thinking about the painting job. I presume it is normal practice to leave the mating faces of mating parts unpainted prior to final assembly and final painting. It seems that if these faces are painted then this may cause problems with fit and alignment of other items.

What is the general consensus?

Personally I primed and under coated the mating surfaces of the chassis. Had to be careful not to get paint into the threads though.

I too primed the parts first, I didn't want bare metal anywhere even in butt joints. I also left the top surfaces of the rails primed and undercoated only, but top coated the rest. No matter how careful you are with the rest of the assembly they are going to get dinged-up, especially when craning the boiler in.
