DCC kit two !!!!
as you know, the castings for kit 2 arrived at the start of the week, and i think you will agree that they were worth the wait. just to show you why we feel it's worth the extra hassle involved in getting the castings overseas, here are a few photos of the new castings along side some samples that we were sent from a company in GB...
so, as this kit is relatively straight forward, we are planing on getting this out next, this is the stage you will be at once you get your kit...
most of the work we need to do involves the leaf springs...
the rest of the parts are quite simple and most are already done...
the spring slipper brackets are currently in the CNC mill...
and these castings are just waiting for the final cross hole...
and these have been posted else where ...
we should have this done by early next week

Re: DCC kit two !!!!
more progress photos...
wheel retaining collars...
on the lathe...
fork retaining pin on the mill, a very simple part to produce...
most of the springs are now drilled, should get the first test set done early Monday...
and a quick shot of the control model area...
still planing on getting this out early next week

Re: DCC kit two !!!!
the kit Finally went out at around 3 o'clock today (Wednesday).
just a few final photos for you...
pivot/fork having cross hole drilled...
almost there...
and the control model together before the kits could go...
just to let you all know. Kit 3 is a very large kit and it's based around some castings that are bought in. unfortunately it looks like these will not get here in time for us to get the rest of the work done in time for a reasonable dispatch date.
but you will be getting a kit next month. we have decided to skip forward to kit 7. this will be the tender parts.
any comments/questions, feel free to post/ask

Re: DCC kit two !!!!
The castings are worth the wait, it is information that keeps me calm. thanks for letting me know about the planned schedule, it doesnt matter what order bits come in at the early stages to be fair just as long as we're not left guessing, so as before a great improvement in info.
Presumeably the hubs for the back wheels are also with the kit 3 castings? Looking forward to seeing the bits in the flesh, I suppose I'll have to put the wheels together now
Cheers Kev.

no not yet, i will see what i can find out. Steve's been very busy working on the cylinder casting and is best not disturbed to often
i'll see what i can find out about future casting schedules
obviously there is a certain order that a lot of the parts need to be made in so we can't mess about too much, but things like wheels and the tender are quite safe to proceed with.
we are very conscious about keeping to a tight schedule on the kits but sometimes things just take longer that expected or things need a little tweak here and there.
