FODEN KIT 1. work has started !!!!
yes we have started work on the Foden chassis kits.
the main chassis frames have been welded and the cross members have been machined. some parts are actually available from old model-works stock so we just have to make up the numbers on them.
the rest of the material is due in next week.
main frames ready for machining...
cross members (including a few old stock)...

Re: FODEN KIT 1. work has started !!!!
Hi Craig,
I was wondering if there was any future intention to publish a parts schedule for each kit, ie what we will get in which kit, this used to be avaiable on the old MW web site but I dont think STW do this at the moment perhaps Steve or Dean may have an answer apart from FO.

Re: FODEN KIT 1. work has started !!!!
well i know that the assembly drawings for each stage/kit are on the system so we should be able to post these up the very least, i'll look into it
most of the kit is now done, i'll be drilling the last few holes on the main chassis in the morning, then they just need deburring and packing. as you know i don't like to promise unless I'm 100% sure of something but I'm 98% sure you will get this before X-mas
main chassis frames. thankfully not that many to do, five artics and ten (11) SWB.
due to the size of these and the limited travel on the CNC machine they are having to be drilled a section at a time. this means each one has to have nine separate drilling operations
cross members being welded...
slipper brackets machined out of bar...
and welded together...
and the "other" bracket (called the "other" bracket because i've forgotten it's real title ). two types for the two different styles/options...
due to the different options on this first kit the packing stage is not going to be rushed, we need to make sure the right parts go in the right boxes. I'm going to "unofficially" guess that this will go out early next week but i'll let you know when it happens

i spoke to Steve about this and he was under the impression that this information had been sent to the people who do the main STW site, however it's clear that it's not currently on the site. he will look into this.
there is some download-able information for the c-type that may interest you on the site.
as a short-term solution i have scanned you one of the Foden sales leaflets that gives a very basic rundown of what each kit will cover
Craig
PS: all the work is now finished on kit 1, just need to pack it now.

Foden Parts List
Hi Guys
As I mentioned in the forum under Foden SWB/Artic, using the autocad drawings is a very good start to see what is in ieach kit - at least it should be similar for the early kits. I have copied parts lists and drawings for the first 6 kits so I should know what to expect when the "postie" arrives. I have attached a drawing of how kits 1-6 should look, although hopefully the SWB will be a bit shorter.
