MOT exemption form V112 -now includes option "O" vehicles wth design speed less than 15.5 mph
Allways have problems taxing my Lykamobile because Post Office say it needs an MOT,have a local garage which used to do it for me,but they have ceased trading. I have just noticed that the new V112 declaration for MOT exemption has a new option "O" for design speed less than 15,5 mph. Steam Traction World any chance of supplying email or letter confirming a low design speed ,would help all those with steam lorries also 'cos technically because they are goods carrying vehicles less than 3500kg they would need MOT .Thanks

V112G exemption form
Has anyone managed to get a written letter stating that a 4” traction engine doesn’t exceed 15mph? If so who signed the form please as I need this part to road register my engine.

You need a V112 not V112G (That's for Goods Vehicles over 3500 kg) Tick 1st Option "Motor Tractor" job done, you don't need written proof from anybody as that what it was designed for !! Similarly I have got tax from a post office for the last 4 years ticked the less than 15.5 mph section, no one has ever asked for written proof.

Thanks for your comments about the specific form DVLA required. I have downloaded the V112 & will submit that even though DVLA have requested the V112G form accompanies my Registration application

Yes I have had a letter from STW covering speed capability but that is for a STW kit.
As your engine is an LSM kit then you might be able to get one from them.
You will also require a boiler certificate, road traffic insurance (cover note) and a couple of photos.
If you get that sorted you will be sent your Vin number and a conformation letter.
After stamping the VIN number on your engine you get an mot garage to confirm it and stamp the conformation letter then return that to dvla.
You then get your registration number, you MUST !! then change the insurance to the reg number to avoid a fine.
Hope this helps.

Simon thanks for your comments they were very helpful. I have now received a VIN number so I’m on my way. I misled you as my engine in a ModelWorks 4” rather than LSM. With that being the case I will probably have to approach STW.
