Finished Engine 'The Mistress'
Its taken an age to finish this engine. I've had numerous other things getting in the way but here she is.
Ive included some photos of the paint process mainly lining and the top coats to show what kind of finish you can get with a brush and lots and lots of patience.
process as follows with wet and dry between up to 1200 grit.
1 oxide
2 undercoat
3 top coats
lined out
2 clear coats

Crumbs and to think one dusty rally field and a fire later and its all undone
Cracking finish, I'd be scared to use the thing

Re: Finished Engine 'The Mistress'
i've been out on her quite a bit and out on my first proper road run at the end of the month. she's not this clean now but not bad. There is now a film of oil and coal dust where you would expect to find it.
she's a working machine first and foremost. There's enough paint on there to last many seasons of use.
The photos of her finished above were taken after a day of steaming and moving around the village. she still had 50 on the clock.
a quick wipe down with some duck oil and back to a nice shine.

Re: Finished Engine 'The Mistress'
So i've been out quite a bit this year with The Mistress and having lots of fun.
I will be out at Banbury but without engine sadly as on daddy duties with two young kids.
photos were taken professionally at Marsworth last weekend.
