MOT needed?
Monty is now three years old I have just tried to re tax it and online says I need an MOT.
I have phoned DVLA and they say only exempt if weighs more than 3500kg.
The V5C shows:
taxation class; Steam vehicle
body type; Agri Tractor
I have downloaded the MOT exemption form V112 but steam vehicle is not listed as an exempt category.
Can anyone help , how have you re taxed after 3 years old.
Looking forwared to your help
Best wishes

Re: MOT needed?
Use the exempt form V112 and mark as Agricultural tractor as this is the registered vehicle type.
I just got Crystals form through today. So will be doing the yearly visit to the local post office with both forms in hand.
Quick look. Type type on their keyboard. "Ok thats you for another year"

Re: MOT needed?
Yeah its a pain, in theory if it had originally been registered as a Tractor then you can use the automated online process and it would ignore it. My electric commercial vehicles I've owned in the past would work perfectly on the online system and from memory the very first time I re-taxed the agri it did work but they changed system a few years back and seem to have missed one of the databases off and now mine wont work on-line.
I've not bothered to argue with the DVLA as those folks are the last people you want to upset. Its bad enough trying to register engines with it being flakey at best.
Lucky I have enough engines around me we dont get any issues at the local post office but I know some have had all kinds of problems and have to go to a main post office to do it
