Governors Empty Governors

Post  chas12154 Fri 15 Sep 2017, 5:33 pm

Hi all, has anyone had problem with their governors?
I have twice broken on of the springs, that the balls are attached to.When filing of the bolt heads to get the brass ring over. I think that's a stupid idea, when you file the heads, you file the end of the springs too and then they break.
I'm in two minds whether to leave them off or contact STW and ask if they can supply me a set already done that I can just slide on the base.

I had the same problem. I shortened the others to match and used permanent loctite to secure. As they are only cosmetic and non functional, I didnt bother to contact STW. Nobody would really notice.

That is one way of doing it. But I have the other two springs still inside the brass collar and the head of the bolts filed down, so can't undo them.
If I knew it would be so much trouble, I would of left the rings off!

I can't get the bolts out as the heads are filed down and no way of getting them out.
Will contact STW on Monday and see what they say or I will just leave them off

I had the same problem with the first one which I super glued in place then I filed a flat on the boss of the rest. That gave a bit more room for the screw and spring. Only had to file the screw.

Good job its not used

Hope this helps
