Ìm wondering if anyone can tell me the correct position for the regulator block when the lever is at both extremes of trave. The reason that I ask is there is never going the be full forwsrd and back movement of the valve itself, so I'm wondering on whats the best position to clamp the block to the rod.

Hi Mike
All I done with mine is to have the leaver forward and positioned the regular block over the centre hole in the cylinder. Far enough forward so covers groove I filed in front of centre hole.
I have steamed mine once and found I had a bit blow by, so that's why I repositioned mine. It is hard to see under the rod, but with a torch, you can see the groove easily.
Hope that helps.
