Steering Damper. Empty Steering Damper.

Hey Guys, no longer do I get cramp in my hands through gripping the tiller hard to prevent it from getting snatched out of my hand I can even go hands off. I`ve fitted a steering damper (ex-Vauxhall Astra 1989 1.3l) and what a difference it has made. I do my test running along a sea front road lined with Pine trees where there are some patches where the roots have caused the road surface to become extremely lumpy which previously needed to be traversed at about 5 mph to prevent the tiller being taken from my grip, I can now run over that stretch at any speed without any hint of kickback through the tiller (that's providing I don't get projected vertically from the seat !!!). If anyone is interested the Vauxhall (GM) part No. is 0090184034 and the cost is £42.25 ex.VAT. Very Happy

I now have one installed and it is a diffrent car! It is so much safer to drive now. Before any little bump at speed could send you in the wrong direction. Thanks for letting us know about this.

Bill, What part # did you use for the damper. I tried the vaxhall # with no result. Is there a usa crossover.

I dug and dug here in the USA and could come up with nothing.
Finally I asked a fellow builder in the UK if he would send me one.
He did and I am gratefull.
I dont know if he wants to do more, so I am not mentioning any names.
Good luck.
