STW Production Week Commencing 01/06/2009
Hi Everyone,
Please find the latest news on how production is coming along below.
Foden Final Parts:
This kit will be despatched today (4th June). It contains the water gauges, globe valves, safety valves (for those happy to set and assemble themselves) and loads of other items including pipes. Only a handful of items will then be outstanding to complete the engine which we are aiming to despatch by the end of June.
Foden Modifications:
After setting the gear cutter we found that only a couple of the returned first and second crank pinions actually needed modifying, the majority seem to be fine. Some flywheels have been reworked with the rest hopefully being completed before the Final Parts kit is despatched today so we can add them to the boxes.
Foden Boilers:
The boiler barrells have now completed machining on the on the large CNC lathe and had the cylinder holes drilled on the 4th axis. They are currently being assembled by our boiler maker.
Burrell 4" Boilers:
A total of 23 boilers have now been completed. The boiler maker is on a weeks holiday next week and will continue with the Burrell boilers once he has completed a batch of 10 Foden boilers.
Burrell 4" Kit 18:
We are expectiing the final drive gear castings in at the early part of next week. Once the 2" Burrell has been completed and the last few Foden items finished this kit will be our main focus. A despatch at the end of June is thew target.
Burrell 4" Kit 19:
This is the valve gear kit and should follow very closely after kit 18.
2" Burrell Kit 21:
The majority of this kit has now been completed. It is running slightly behind schedule due to the additional parts we have added to enable customers to run their engines on air. A despatch towards the end of next week is our target, however we will add a further update to the 2" Burrell part of the forum at the beginning of next week.
2" Burrell Kit 17 or Kit 22:
Both these kits are dependant on us receiving either the diff gears from our supplier or the castings from our foundry. Once we know which are likely to arrive first we will start work on the relevant kit and update the forum with a despatch date.
