Anyone got thoughts on lagging a Foden boiler? I know its not traditional but my thinking is with the lack of coal carrying capacity on my J Type SWB I need to get as much effort out of the fuel as possible. I was thinking 5mm of Tulip wood with foil and 20 gauge steel cleading.

Hi Mike.

Do you have any up-date on your lagging idea?

I have rolled the steel Phil but the signwriting took so long I did not have a chance to fit it before Dorset.  I will do a composite of 5mm loco lagging, tulip wood and kitchen foil. I am also going to do a 'leg-guard' to drop in in front of the fire-box to stop me boots melting, made out of thin stainless with a lagging core.

Hi Mike
I like the fact that my feet never get cold driving the Foden - wouldn't go out with a pair of sandals on tho'. It is good for drying out your boots whilst on a wet rally field (and there will be a few more of them!!)

Thank for your reply Mike.
Could you post pictures when complete, I would be interested seeing how it looks.
Thanks.
Plus, I can see Tom how sandals or flip-flops (for those of us young enought to remember them) would not be a greatest of ideas. Mind you I like the idea of warm feet on a cold day.

Phil.
