Third gear hub modification
Hi all, I am at the stage of fitting the gears and have read on the forum that a modification is recommended for the third speed hub to assist in removing the crank at a later date. Does anyone have a picture of what the modification looks like and any suggestions on how you did the mod would be most interesting.
Looking forward to your replies
Many thanks in advance

Re: Third gear hub modification
Hi Ian,
Also you can speak to Steve at STW, as he has drawing of the modifications necessary.

I would hope that this mod is already being done to the next batch of parts, have you had yours for a while Ian?

Re: Third gear hub modification
Hi Brian
Yes I have had the gears for over a year but only got the crankshaft in Novemebr last year, so have not been able to do much with the bits that attach to it. I am due the final kit 30b this month but have several kits needing to be worked on and fitted. So I assume the new batch will have the various updates.

3rd speed gear mod.
I'd like to think that any issues with the previous batch of kits will be ironed out at STW, whether they are with the regulator, lubricator, simpling valve or anything else. I read the many posts before commiting to placing my order and as I look at each kit and think there's over £600 sat there I expect it to go together and fit on the engine with the minimum of fuss.

Re: Third gear hub modification
Ian's post was made yesterday, to which I made my comment.
Where there has been a problem flagged up by engine builders, it's not always clear to read that a solution has been implemented.
Maybe the production guide update could be specific to each model and include mod's? Just a thought.
