Re: Mr Station House Progress
Love the colour scheme, the lining looks great and really pops against the black.
Re: Mr Station House Progress
As they say 'quietly progressing'. Very impressed. How many Showmans and road loco's can we get together for next years show!

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Reminds me of another ( at least couple of )  engine(s) I seem to have seen somewhere   Looking very smart must tidy up some of my war wounds now!!! Just out of interest what are the colours used on yours? I used what I thought was President colours from a list posted on here very early on but last year I bought a Burrell sign from Midsummer Models and the imitation gold line is a different shade and looking at your photos it seems to be the same colour. I am wondering if I have the wrong colour?? not that it matters and I certainly wont be changing it!!!
Next Years show??? At least a few more if everyone made the effort to get there......

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Thanks all, am going to make an effort to put a few more pictures on. I decided I would use the President scheme as for many years now I have been a fireman on Steam Narrowboat President so it seemed as good a scheme as any. Â
As some will know Adam Meredith is doing the painting and when we started he thought that the "gold" was too yellow on the full size one and suggested Oxford Ochre which I went along with. I am very pleased with the colour, as you say it brings the colour out. The flash sometimes makes it look yellower than it is.
You are right about the colour being the same as the panel you brought from Midsummer models as they were painted by Adam. If you didn't know Craftmaster and Midsummer models are owned by the same family.

Re: Mr Station House Progress
I do like to fill the garage with other stuff, at present we have a 1970 Morris Minor, a Velocette Venom, a modern Triumph Tiger and a 1958 Matchless. I am thinking of selling the Matchless and buying a series on Land Rover.
Then there is the Amanco stationary engine plus a very nice old hacksaw I was given
All part of the fun

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Adam is making an elegant job of the lining, the ochre looks smart. Would there be a black line next to the boiler bands? Would make it easier to keep clean.

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Ah right that explains the panel and your lining colour being different to the full size, I know what you mean about the luminosity of the imitation gold, it is quite zingy.
Well spotted Tim, I didn't initially put the black band on my boiler and thought it looked odd so added it afterwards, each to their own though, its what makes these engines individual.

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Imminent departure on holiday for a week encouraged me to finish the crank spraying and fit the cladding

Looking very good being, away at the moment in China, looking at the forum reminds me what I have waiting at home. Which kit do the valve end plate brass bits arrive?

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Thanks Chaps, it is certainly moving forward - sometimes progress seems so slow and then you can do something nice like putting a finished crank in and the cladding.
I think the cylinder plates are in kit 13

Re: Mr Station House Progress
That a very nice engine coming along Simon, first time I saw your latest pics as I was out of the country for 10 days. Just trying to work up the motivation to finish my traction wagons and sort out my regulator which is now misbehaving quite badly - I must have worn it out. Do you expect to be in steam next year?

Re: Mr Station House Progress
Thats interesting Brian, take some pics after you take off the safety valves and before you sort it out just to see what maybe the cause for comparison.
Another step forward
Have today fitted my newly painted belly tank.

Just back from blacking
I thought I would have the chains and steering assembly blacked professionally and am very pleased with the results. I did add the shovel and poker as well as I thought it would last longer than paint , only time will tell
