Merry Christmas Ian
Your engine looks amazing, will you be getting a black and silver cast plate made eventually for your engine or are you keeping the plastic white and yellow one's

You can have whatever plate you like on the front, as it. Is not a legal requirement - so nice little pressed aluminium ones look good. On the the back it is a legal requirement to have a black and yellow plate as those are the requirements for a modern registration plate. I simply fixed mine to the seat or the waggon and keep scale size ones on the engine.
Happy Christmas

Hi Tim,
I have the rear number plate fitted to the back of the seat, the front one will probably get replaced soon with a miniature pressed aluminium one. I have today received the name plate as a Christmas present which was made by Steam plates and is absolutely fantastic, will post a picture when I have fitted it.

Re: IanL Road Loco
Yesterday was hydraulic and steam test day. Passed both so all now legal for a road run. I did have a problem with getting the fire to light. I had no problem the previous four occasions but now started with a new bag of coal, the only difference was that this new bag was doubles size and I think they were too small and did not let enough air to flow through the coals. Also some fell through the fire bars and were burning below the grate so starving the fire of oxygen. So a big thank you to everyone at Melton Mowbray for helping me to get the fire going and the use of their steam coal. Once the fire was going and steam raised, using the new doubles worked well but needed regular raking. They did take for ever to die down so I could get packed up at he end of the day.

Re: IanL Road Loco
Here is Monty at the end of a days steaming he still has a full head of steam but little fire.
The flywheel is catching on the flywheel brake rod, it rings beautifully! I have put an extra washer to hold the brake bloke away from the rod, it seems to have cured that issue but there is still a rattle whilst driving which I think is the gear guard catching somewhere on the diff gears. Or is it the damper rod?
