Water sight glass 2" burrell.
Can any one please tell me the diameter and lenght of the sight glass in the boiler water gauge.
I am away and can't get access to my engine to find out for my self.
( I need to order some more sight glasses)

6 mm. Can't state length as I broke mine and replaced the whole unit but it is normally sold in 6" lengths anyway
Get glass with red or blue stripes as the levels show up far better against the strip

Mine also melted I like the idea of the striped background, will do that to mine I reckon. As for the plastic, it'd seem that glass is needed, I WAS toying with the idea of a Pyrex tube such as those used in chemistry sets and the very careful use of a dremmel and an "o" ring at the top and bottom to prevent it from bouncing around and or crushing/shattering when fitted.

I like the idea of a pyrex tube cut the correct size to sit over the water tube, or may be make the glass pieces from pyrex sheet. as my lhs plastic glass melted when i opened the firebox door! do you think a lab supplies place would have the sort of size we need? But for now i have removed the lhs piece of plastic....
