Steam in the village !!
I'm posting this on behalf of David Steel who sent the report and photos via E-mail...
Last month four STW customers gathered at the George pub in the small village of Finchdean on the Hampshire/Sussex border to run their 4” Burrell engines. Based in the paddock to the rear of the pub they were joined by a 2” Foster which surprised everyone by making light work of towing two adults on a wagon over the uneven ground. The 3” scale was also represented by a static Burrell and an Alchin that was still under construction. The 4” Burrell drivers took advantage of the peaceful lanes that converge on the village and enjoyed exploring the countryside with their engines. Visitors to the pub showed great interest in the miniatures and enjoyed a good selection of smaller steam models on display in a marquee. These had been brought along by village residents, young and old who proudly demonstrated their engines’ operating capabilities. The day was enjoyed by all and there is a lot of support to re-run the occasion. Anyone interested in participating or simply visiting the next one can contact “steel steam” via the forum for details.
