Thanks Will
I am sure you can understand why I am now getting impatient as this kit is now about 18 months late and I want to get the engine out and about this season

Production January
Hi Will,
I am also waiting the last remaining kit for the showman's, Unfortunately due to my back injury i have been unable to come up and collect kit 34, but hopefully will be able to get up to STW in a few weeks.
I will get in touch with Isobel to find out how many kits are to be collected. I know i have at least four kits for the Traction wagon to collect, as well as a few for my second showman's which i currently have kits 1,3,4,5,7 paid for kit 6. I was supposed to collect kit 2 but then suffered an injury whilst at work, and been unable to drive because of the medication.
Hopefully now that Dean has been chasing the magnets, then hopefully we won't have to wait much longer.
Kind regards
Steve H (Heavyhaul)

Hi guys
I do understand your impatience (I would be the same in your position), but good things will come to those who wait. We will hopefully have a final delivery date soon. Dean has made it his task for the day to chase the magnets again, we are unfortunately at the mercy of the company supplying them. I will give you more news when I have it.
Thanks

This weeks photos...
the machines are currently working on Showmans/ Roadloco kit 18, steering, and 6inch Foden Kit 22, Flywheel and conrods.
Showmans steering chain shafts...
Putting the angled oiler hole in the chain shaft bush...
blocking out the bronze for the foden big end bearings...
and blocking out the conrods on the 4th axis...
the foden flywheels. we decided it was quicker to block them out on the mill first...
before final turning on the lathe...
manual are working on the Showmans/roadloco tender kit...
harry is working on another Aggi boiler (although it could possibly be the same one he's been on for the past 3 weeks )
and also welding up some parts for lyka kit 2...

Hi Craig!, I nearly was going to say what has happened to the Lyka wiring looms that were supposed to be delivered last month?! However, you say there are Lyka boilers littering STW now, but when will they likely to be ready for delivery please?

not sure about the boilers, they need to be pressure tested and all signed off before they can go out so not sure what the plans are with that.

Hi Craig
Those steering chain eyes could do with a dab of weld to stop them opening up when one drives into a pothole. Tim & I have had several occurrences when this has happened & had to change them for fixed eyes. If one let go it'd be a big crash!

I did mine today and also fitted a scale spring tensioner to each chain to help take the shock out of the chainSteve Traill wrote:Hi Craig

The spring tensioner is a great idea especially for any road work, these are fast engines (if the road is smooth) and not having the usual (and necessary) slack in the system stops one getting a wobble on at high speed. Of course I say high speed, it's relative really but 20mph with chain steering & solid wheels feels pretty fast!

this weeks photos...
the showman/roadloco steering kit is all done and yes we have added weld to the chains
the 6inch foden crank shaft, con rod and flywheel kit is now done and awaiting packing for dispatch next Tuesday...
the finished flywheels...
cross heads...
and big end bearings...
we are currently re-visiting a few parts for the Lyka kit 2
and Ian is busy on the wiring kit. this is his number one priority and is taking longer because it is very different to the old set up...
the main fuse box...
with pre drilled holes on the CNC machines...
also this week... progress on the 6inch foden cylinder blocks...
the next batch of boilers will include some showman's ones...
and boiler work continues all the time...
Roller news, the next kit will focus on the motion covers, with laser cuts due in any time.
Lyka news, Dean has made good progress on the seats with a sub contractor due to start the upholstery any time now.
Showmans last kit news, Dean sends his apologies out to everyone still awaiting this. the ball is fully in his court at the moment but is still rolling. we are still awaiting delivery of magnets.

Re: January, February, March 2019 Production Photos
This weeks photos, a little later than usual but i didn't forget
first off, 6inch foden cylinder blocks. The front and rear faces have been machined, this includes the important saddle and bores.
next week they will be on the 4th axis for all the steam chests etc...
and to go with the blocks, the stainless steel valve plates. a simple job but horrible material to work with, thankfully mark finished them off for me when i was off for a couple of days
also on the machines, the BU4 chimney base rings. to be honest i forget who this BU4 kit 3 is actually for but it is 95% done with just
the holes to drill in these and the last op on the door ring to do...
as Lyka sales continue to increase at a slow but steady rate we are once again revisiting the first few kits to make any parts we are short of.
here we see a new batch of the main steering shaft...
for current lyka production, the boilers are in constant production. it does take a long time to tube one boiler due to the number of tubes involved.
as usual im sure we will be getting these signed off in large batches. our boilers usually get tested all plumbed together in a long line. I don't have any information on when this will be happening.
the wiring kits are another time consuming kit to complete but again they are being worked on. each loom will be hand made and hand wrapped.
OK, ROLLER PEOPLE !!. we are working on the motion guard kit. this will also include the lubricator boxes. these should have been in the last kit but as seems to be the norm lately, we had a delay with the castings...
the plates are in and being worked...
the lube boxes arrived on friday...
and the material for the brass beading is in...
that material also includes the beading for the 2inch tender kit, a very similar kit to the roller kit in terms of work required so they are being worked
on side by side...

Mark is doing final machining on a batch of 2inch boilers...
the machines are working on the last few parts for the 2inch tender and the roller motion guard kits, mainly beading but also some tow brackets...
the lubricator boxes are ready for silver soldering...
we are also working on kit 3a for the latest showmans batch...
and manualy fabricated parts...
Lyka wiring looms are just about done...
100s of copper tubes for lyka boilers...
and the new showmans generators/dynamos are finally here and awaiting modification.
this is one of the parts we need to make... the magnet holder...

Production January,February & March
Good afternoon Craig,
Once again many thanks for keeping us updated with what's going on in the factory, it was very pleasing to hear the news that the Magnets and the Alternators had arrived, and hopefully will finally receive the last kit for my showman's.
Kind regards
Steve Honey (Heavyhaul)
