Canvas Tarpaulin ideas
Calling all Road Loco owners.
I have an idea of what shape cover i may go with but thought its always wise to ask those that have already had one made and what shape and changes they may make if they were to have one made again.
I like the idea I am used to on full sized RLs' where a pole in placed between the chimney and the front of the roof. This forms a support for the sheet and stops it resting on whistles and governors.
I will have it wrapped around the chimney and dutch laced together at the front. A chimney sleeve made for when its cold and in transit.
This would be my preference in style but as said i'm open to ideas.
I thought about dutch lacing the back corners so you can access the foot plate when sheeted but maybe this is a bit OTT.
Your ideas and thoughts would be helpful.
cheers
Nick

Hi Nick,
what I have seen follows quite what you‘ve already stated, but I‘d add yet another pole to go to LH and RH front corner of roof as this would help to keep the cover from touching the top of boiler resp. whistle etc.
Seen that on some full size machines and seems to be working good.

Re: Canvas Tarpaulin ideas
Had a chat about tarps over the weekend at a local steam gathering and unbeknown to me someone who was part of the conversation makes and repairs engine tarps local to me.
It will even get measured and fitted by the maker.
job done.
