Light fingers!!
Hi All,
Just a general note & reminder that there are some real low life's about when You have your engines out in public, I now speak from experience, as some bastard had the lights away off My Agricultural Engine yesterday, at our little country May Fair!
They were gone when I took this picture half way through the afternoon!!
I didn't notice till I packed away that They'd been "nicked"!!
I hadn't got round to putting secure fixings on them, BIG MISTAKE!!
So be warned All You lovely engineers out there!!
Regards,
Tony

Re: Light fingers!!
Very sorry to hear that Tony,
just goes to show you never know who is on the prowl at these events,we all have to be vigilent and security aware at all times,as soon as we take our eyes of the ball that low life will pounce.

Re: Light fingers!!
I suspect that it was an opportunist taking advantage while I was setting up & the engine was unattended, while I went back to get the Showman's engine rolled into place ( 60 yards from My house!!) ....a friend has shown Me photo's He took at the event on his iPhone at 13.20 & they were "gone" then & I was setting up at 12.30!!
I like to think that any person who spends the time building & appreciating these engines would not be the type of low life to then steal from another builder... Be bloody sad if it was!!... This was a very public event & there were a few faces I'd never seen before!
I'm too trusting, so left Myself wide open as an easy target & I'm guessing there are a few others out there like Me, hence the warning!! These "extra bits" on the engines are highly desirable & expensive!!... Bolt em down/secure them in place!!

Tony

Re: Light fingers!!
Sorry to hear this, I'm paranoid about leaving stuff about, much to the wifes annoyance I think, but this just goes to show how low some folks will go

Re: Light fingers!!
That's a real shame Tony.
No consolation to you, but I have always made the lights as fixtures with a nut or Allen screw because they are such desirable little objects. Anyone who has exhibited at GDSF knows about nailing everything down.
Still leaves a bad taste tho'.

Re: Light fingers!!
Hi Tony
I found out about your lamps on face book are these the lamps I made? if so I do have the build images some place, they might be of use to pick them out amoung another set of lamps because I for one would spot them as being the ones that I did make. In no way did I follow the manual.
Any help or infomation you want or need on how they were built is right here if you need it just ask, of course as long as it was the set that I made.

Re: Light fingers!!
Hiya Stu,
They are indeed the very ones You made, a friend of mine put it on face book for me (I wouldn't have a clue!!) & I'm totally amazed at how the word is going round!!
I feel really "crap" about the whole thing I have to say!!
If in the unlikely event a set comes to light, Ha ha, then I may very well contact You.... & thank You!!

Tony

Re: Light fingers!!
As soon as I spotted the post to day on face book I know they was the ones I made and because of this that is why I jumped in right away because I to am just as up set about this as you are my work is now in the hands of some body else that in my eyes does not have a clue what they have taken and nor there value not there cost but there value to us both for me its my work and I very much care about what effort I put in to something and once I have moved it on I care where it ends up.
The post is now with all my full size and miniature engine owners friends as much as I dislike facebook some days it makes it very hard for others that do wrong to get away with and that in my eye's is a good thing.
