Crossheads and guides tight? Empty Crossheads and guides tight?

Post  iain Wed 21 Jan 2015, 8:09 am

Anybody else had to do much to the crossheads and guides to get them to fit?

One fits but is a bit tight although think it will run in, the other seems to have no chance to go in there I'm going to measure it up when I get home again.

Obvioulsy there is no adjustment to take up any wear so want them as tight as possible from new.

We also had this problem, one crosshead fitted but the other didn't, so we sent them back to STW and they re-fitted them for us Very Happy

I'm going to be somewhere near next week I think so will see about calling in Smile

Thought it was just me!

My rings were also tight in the piston ring grooves on the HP I think it was.

Took some time to free the slot by filing. Hopefully they'll be ok.
