ChriXs SCC Build
Hi all, seems a bit quiet round here so thought I would post some of my photos. Most of my build has been documented in videos (https://www.youtube.com/chrix2) but didn't think anyone would complain if I posted some photos too?!
Some early bits first (some of these are nearly a year old, but wanted to start at the beginning):
Isoflexed the tyres on:
Tender assembly
Biggest cock up so far in the build - rounded the wrong side of part of the beading! Luckily a quick email to STW towers got a replacement on the way.
A side project; borrowed the engine stand on the left from a friend. Decided to take a leaf from the Chinese book and quickly knocked up a complete copy of it and gave the original back...!
More to come.

Re: ChriXs SCC Build
Few more:
Firstly the tender tank top. I have made an additional hole on the left for a dip stick or float gauge etc., yet to be produced, but I thought it would be easier to make a hole now rather than when more bits are fitted.
The axle, perch and fork in undercoat:
Front wheel in undercoat:
Spent a few minutes putting together the strainers to go in the tender. I decided to use some copper wire and Araldite rather than cable ties:
Finally, trial assembly of the horn plates and spec plates:

Thanks Tony. The workshop was the last project I finished before starting on my engine, so it's not very old (perhaps explaining the cleanliness). When I registered on this forum it didn't have all the walls or a roof!

Re: ChriXs SCC Build
Hi Tim, I have brush painted everything so far (aside from some aerosol etch primer here and there), including the spec plates. Not sure if everything will get a brushed top coat - I am considering trying a sprayed top coat for the tender. The parts pictured are the only ones I have in top coat at the moment.

Now that's a lot of rivets!
I do hope you don't have to take it apart Chris.
Nice picture, please keep them coming.
Phil.

Re: ChriXs SCC Build
Hi Tom I sanded the chimney cap quite a lot as it had some fairly deep marks in it. Probably with 240 grit working up to maybe 800, and then used the buffing mop on the bench grinder. Hope this helps! Chris

Re: ChriXs SCC Build
Great video of your progress, Looking really good Chris, looks nice in blue with the lining, had to have a little chuckle to myself when you had to file the tender to get it to fit and then when you got the old angle grinder on the second shaft to get diff to fit properley, had to do exact the same with mine !! keep up the good work.

Re: ChriXs SCC Build
As Tim says, great video, shows what is involved with fettling!! What a clean workshop you have, most impressed!
I tend to build things on off-cuts of carpet so that small nuts etc don't bounce into the next county when dropped.
