Winch
I hate to keep ringing Isabel but I got a question if anyone can answer, I've noticed kit 23 says drive gears and winch, Is all of the winch suppose to be in this kit? As I'm not in a monthly system and being fairly new to steam it's hard to get my head around a few things

Re: Mikes Road loco
Hi Mike
The winch comes in over two kits. You will get the differential kit and this has the diff drum and some of the bits. The winch drum which goes on to the diff drum comes in a later kit.

Re: Mikes Road loco
I think the website is long overdue an update as the kit contents listed were an estimate but in reality it worked out slightly different and the first batch went through. I think Dean is concentrating more on Facebook at times (which I hate), even the twitter postings on the homepage have not been changed since last Christmas

Likewise, awful place, sadly though the "youngsters" seem to lap it up and it is a very very powerful tool in your arsenal of getting your product out there, far more than anything else we have currently, and the more we get the message out the better chance STW have of maintaining their output which we need to happen.
Today a vibrant and active faceache page will generate far more interest than a website, however a website does need to fill the info gap that Faceache cannot provide.
Its also far easier and cheaper to update or put a faceache status than re-work a website which is quite often can be a specialist job for most, so I understand why they are using it, but it would be nice to have more interaction here as well at times, even if it was just repeat stuff from faceache for those that don't want to use that medium.
Sorry Mike I have taken your thread off in a different direction for a moment........carry as you were

Re: Mikes Road loco
That's fine, I'm only young 30 but fil 60 sometimes but I ain't on Facebook so I can't keep up with that side but yeh like u said the website needs up dating sometimes, there's alot of members on here and the more what gets posted the better it is for all of us, I just worry sometimes I haven't got everything and I hate to keep contacting stw and bothering them, the less I bother them the faster they can get on with the kits

Re: Mikes Road loco
We ought to have proper updates on the website so that every group of builders know which kit is due out next and when, plus which kit is next in production.
It's ok getting more orders whether that's via the website / twitter / facebook / trade stand at rallies providing you can manage the increasing production demands, I started getting kits last November and am now 3 behind as I've not had one every month, which is both frustrating and disappointing.

Re: Mikes Road loco
Bit of progress, dry fitted and started painting so hopefully have it fitted soon, very snug fit
Little bit of problem I had was the bolt what u tighten up to make the bush fit nicely was to long and I had to cut down a little so it wasn't hitting the gearing
When I seen Steve at dorset I showed him the problem I was having with 1 of the eccentric bushes not fitting nicely so he sorted it for me so thank u Steve, this was one part I didn't really want to file Â
I no it's not interesting progress but I thought some1 better put some progress on the forum, so coming people let's see some pictures

Re: Mikes Road loco
Yes I agree. Always very nice to see progress.
The bolt for the crank bearing adjuster is a known issue. I cut my bolt a bit shorter and took a fair bit off the head as well.
Have you done the modification to the 3rd gear support? I.e. cut the window out to allow the bearing to be removed without having to remove 3rd gear.

Re: Mikes Road loco
Some of mine were tight too, you could try the timesaver compound or if its beyound lapping in
just get a replacement .
The compound is not cheap but goes a long way.
