Buffered.
Something slightly different.
Been playing with a friends buffer beam. Removing some bolts. Fill holes and will be fitting buffers and lettering.
Holes needing hot glue filled
Holes going away
And first primer

Re: Buffered.
Well after stripping the buffer completely clean. I think I now have a good top coat finish.
Now to leave it for a couple weeks to fully harden. Then its do the black on the coupling and signage. Also got the buffers to colour match when they come from the owner.

Re: Buffered.
More bits to fettle
Buffers. Still needing cleaned as the media blasting was done by a volunteer.
As I guessed the buffer was not taken apart for blasting. Grinding paste anyone?
Oh Eco. That's goufing!
Much cleaner
In primer
Now waiting for the primer to dry. Need to find some M6 bolts then tap the buffer.
But that's another day.

Re: Buffered.
The buffer beam has slowed down somewhat. It's the waiting for paint to dry time.
It was hard enough this morning to get the buffers fitted. Holes drilled and taped. I will wait for the paint to harden up a bit more then I will mask off the rest of the buffer bean and paint the buffer castings to match. This makes sure all the bolts get painted as well.
Gave the coupling a light coat of black in preparation for finishing at the same time as the reverse side.

Re: Buffered.
Short day today for painting. Well except the waiting.
Buffer castings now in final coat.
So leaving for a couple days. Do the lettering and then shoot the final black on the coupling and the back of the buffer to remover the red over spray and protect the nuts etc.

Re: Buffered.
Still progressing with the buffer beam.
Did the lettering this morning. Slight clean up needed but not too shaby. Then a coat of varnish to finish.

Re: Buffered.
Basically finished the buffer beam. Just a coat of varnish to protect the letters to do.
